Olivia Mihet is a Romanian singer-songwriter and pianist, and songwriting is where her own catalogue comes from first: a semi-finalist spot in Romania’s 2022 Eurovision national selection with her own song “Fragile,” and the 2025 EP Dialog interior, written and recorded with a string ensemble. That background, backed by a Master’s in composition finished with First Class Honours, shapes a masterclass built around one goal: helping a student actually finish a song, not just talk about one.
How it works
It starts with a short conversation about where a student is at and what they want to work on: how to turn a personal experience into a first line, how lyric and melody fit together, or simply how to finish a song that’s been sitting half-written for months. From there, our booking team recommends the right format, a group masterclass, a series of one-to-one sessions, or a recurring package built around a bigger project like an EP.
What a session covers
A group masterclass usually works through one specific part of the craft at a time: turning a personal observation or feeling into a first line, building a melody that’s simple enough to remember, or understanding a classic verse-chorus-bridge structure well enough to use it on purpose. The exercises are hands-on, and students often leave with a real fragment of a song they started during the session.
A one-to-one session runs differently. A student brings an idea, a lyric fragment, or a song that’s stuck halfway, and the whole session works on that material. Olivia gives direct feedback on what’s already working and what’s missing, whether that’s a verse that doesn’t go anywhere, a chorus that isn’t lifting enough, or a structure that needs simplifying.
From idea to finished song
Most unfinished songs aren’t missing ideas, they’re missing a clear way to carry those ideas to the end. The masterclass puts real weight on finishing: how to decide on a song’s length, how to choose between competing melody ideas, and how to recognise the point where a song is actually done rather than endlessly revised. For students who also want to perform their own material, sessions can extend into preparing a song for its first live outing, drawing on Olivia’s experience as both a songwriter and a working performer.
Who it’s for
The masterclass suits early-career singer-songwriters, vocal or piano students who want to start writing their own material, and more experienced writers who need an outside ear to help finish a project. No formal composition background is required, just a willingness to work on an actual song idea rather than talk about songwriting in the abstract.
Sessions online, anywhere in the world
Group and one-to-one sessions are held online by video call, which removes any geographic limit on who can take part. For a group or institution that wants an in-person workshop instead, the client covers flights and accommodation for Olivia, with the rest of the arrangement confirmed clearly in the proposal.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What does the masterclass actually cover?
Sessions cover writing from a personal starting point, building lyrics with real detail rather than cliche, shaping a melody that's easy to remember, and understanding song structure, verse, chorus, bridge, well enough to use it deliberately. The focus stays practical, worked through on a student's own song idea rather than taught as abstract theory.
Is this for beginners or more experienced songwriters?
Both. Group sessions start from first principles, which suits songwriters working on their first few songs, while one-to-one sessions adapt to whatever level a student is already at, including those who've been writing for years but want an outside perspective.
How does a one-to-one session work?
A student brings an idea, a lyric fragment or a half-finished song, and the session works directly on that material: what's already working, what the structure is missing, and what it would take to carry the song to a finished version.
Does the masterclass cover performing your own songs, as well as writing them?
Yes. For students who also want to perform what they write, sessions can include how to prepare an original song for its first live performance, drawing on Olivia's experience as both a songwriter and a performer.
Is this custom song writing, where you write a song for me?
No. This masterclass teaches the craft of songwriting itself, group and one-to-one sessions on lyric, melody and structure, so a student leaves able to write and finish their own songs. It isn't a commissioned-song or session-vocal service.
Are sessions online or in person?
Group and one-to-one sessions are held online by video call, which keeps the masterclass accessible to students in any country and time zone.
What if a group wants an in-person workshop?
For a group or institution booking an in-person workshop, the client covers flights and accommodation for Olivia, with the rest of the arrangement set out clearly in the proposal.
